Concentrating on his target, Nihao released his arrow, sniping a barbarian warlord. Observing his surroundings, the young archer began to realize the melee forces of his homeland, Kugnae, were falling and fast. Suddenly he was seiged by a savage warrior. Despite 5 seemingly vital shots, the beast struggled on, raising his weapon above his head with a bloodcurdling battlecry. The blunt end of the axe struck Nihao with incredible force. As his vision faded, Nihao saw the remainder of his allies flee. Since the dawn of known time a rivalry has existed between Kugnae and the Horde. Finally, as the brutes raided the Kugnae palace the everbuilding enmity became too much to bear. The Koguryo Royal Army issued official warfare against the Horde. Nihao was a headstrong marksmen ordered to participate in the combat. Awaking with a severe headache and a bleeding leg, Nihao found himself in alien terrain. Analyzing his situation, he realized that he would need to quickly find food/shelter, lest he die here alone. Hastily he rose using a nearby branch to support his wounded limb. Scouting the territory he noticed a small river adjacent to him. Regardless of his condition he quickly strode over to it. Recalling his days as a boy, Nihao noticed many edible fish in the moderately potable water. After taking a small sip from the creek, he sharpened his crutch on a rigid stone embedded into the ground. Leaning on an old popular, Nihao awaited the cluster of fish. Upon thier arrival he quickly launched the makeshift spear into the stream. His marksmen skills paid off, as his stick had impaled a large salmon and rooted itself into the ground. Slowly limping off the tree he reached for the now food laden lance. Unfortunately on account of his arm extension, he lost his balance, falling headfirst into the river rapids. Instantaneously he gripped his javelin, still engrained in the ground. Summoning all his strength he gradually pulled himself to land. Although he had escaped the brook and retrieved his salmon, he now had a new problem... the icecold water had left him shivering. Ignoring the excruciating pain in his leg, he dashed back towards his awakening point, recalling flammable materials there. Oblivious in his zeal, Nihao ran straight into what had initially looked like a bear. Terrified and confused Nihao tried to concentrate more intensely on what he had collided with. Still contemplating it, the creature roared... "Ya ok there mate?" 'A hunter in camoflouge!?... What luck!' Nihao thought. Still, something was wrong, Nihao couldn't finger it, but sensed trouble. A barbarian...? The notion first came to him as a paranoia, but seemed more and more rational as he considered it. Knowing his true identity would get him killed, Nihao claimed... "Aye, I be a simple farmer, lost in these woods lookin' for me sheep." Contradictory to his former beliefs, the barbarians took Nihao in with open arms. First giving him warm clothing and food, and later within his stay, teaching him various hunting and survival techniques. Gradually learning of thier ideals and beliefs, Nihao became a part of the Horde, in everyway. Taking part in thier hunts, thier raids, and thier feasts. Upon reading the old barbarian scrolls, he realized Kugnae, in multiple assaults upon innocent wolves, brethern to the Horde, had instegated thier mutual contention. Time came for the barbarians counter attack towards Kugnae. Without hesitation, Nihao armed himself with them. He dawned a great war axe. Ready to take on Kugnae... to take on those who had left him to die... or, rather, to survive. -Sniddster | |
